Hey Nate Draw Something

Time for another Catalyst character! I rolled Karmen - a 19-year-old with an axe to grind. Her streetsmarts have made her resourceful and calculating; unfortunately she’s also encumbered by righteous pride and explosive anger. Staying alive on her wits and speed, she doesn’t want to be your friend. But get on her bad side, and she’s not afraid to find the soft spot between your ribs with the steel tip of her short spear.

The design (unintentionally) ended up coming out like Chloe from Uncharted with a dash of Katniss Everdeen. Neat.

I’m about to launch a new online show, and here’s the demo title card I made for it. Which one’s me? Who knows!

Catalyst character #4: Callan. The game writer’s character, this mildly autistic savant (in both the genius and clairvoyant senses) specialized in knowing what was going to happen in the future, and then totally messing with the outcome. But if only he could see the future of the human heart (cue awwwwwwww).

Catalyst character #3: Doc L’Amore. A no-nonsense kick-ass beauty with an unspecified doctorate, you were never quite sure whether she’d heal your wounds or add a new quarrel to your problems.

Catalyst character #2: Rich, the hobo of the apocalypse. What Rich lacked in firearm skills, he made up for in willingness to eat rodents to survive.

I painted my sketch earlier because I can. Vonnie’s got season tickets to the gun show.

I tried my hand at pixel-art to create small little characters for my party in Catalyst, a friend’s tabletop RPG that I am GMing. This was really fun, and they turned out OK. Unfortunately they looked like dried butthole when printed out, but they were pretty small so I guess it all works out in the end.

This first one is “Brad Swagger”, the charismatic Hollywood actor who still thinks he’s relevant post-apocalypse. Ascension has not quelled his odd neuroses.
